Theological Reflection on Suffering: Overcoming Anxiety and Depression during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic can cause mental health problems such as anxiety and depression which be considered forms of human suffering. This article explores the theological concept suffering reflected specifically in John Paul II’s apostolic letter Salvifici Doloris. Two significant themes emerged from document highlights suffering—part humanity’s transcendence that it is beneficial for sufferer. Utilizing personal experience author main source data, overcoming attained using same themes. These are then translated applied into a concrete plan action actualized regularly, namely: acceptance, regular conversation with loved ones, meditation. Habitual practice actions contributed greatly to recovery crisis.
